India to Fund Construction of Call Centre in Burkina Faso

The Government of India has decided to assist Burkina Faso, a land-locked West African country, in setting up its first call centre. Noel Kabore, Minister for Post and Communications and IT, Burkina Faso is in talks with the Indian government regarding this. The minister expressed the need for IT collaboration with India. The call centre will employ 400 people, and its construction will begin with financial assistance provided by the Export-Import (Exim) Bank of India. Exim will provide a loan of $5 million to build the call centre, for which the officials from Burkina Faso have opened talks with their Indian counterparts.

The country is also a part of India’s Pan- African e-network project, under which India had earlier extended credit of over $50 million for rural electrification and development of a national post office in Burkina Faso. Apart from the latest venture, India has also sanctioned credit of $15 million to build a tomato processing facility in the country.
