World-class cricket stadium on the cards for Kochi

A cricket stadium, at par with international standards, is set to be built on 23 acres in the coastal Kerala suburb of Edakochi, Kochi. Construction of the project would begin next year and require an estimated three years to be completed. Planning and designing is expected to take six to nine months.

The land required for the Rs 250-crore project has already been purchased. Additional land around the site will also be purchased in due course. This area is expected to have amenities such as indoor games, swimming pools, water sports, an international level club house and a shooting range. The project would be funded by the BCCI from its stadium development funds allocated to state associations, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), bank loans as well as club membership payments.
