The members of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and the Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan Pvt Ltd have jointly planned to organise the 5th Build Asia International Exhibition and Conference. The event will be held at Karachi Expo Centre from August 1-3, 2009, between 10am and 8pm. The venue has around 9000 square metresoffloor space. It will showcase other exhibitions too, which include Furniture Asia, Property Asia and Stonefair Asia International.
The exhibition is aimed at providing a comprehensive networking platform to various professionals from the infrastructure industry. These will include engineers, contractors, builders, consultants, government officials, bankers, policy makers, stakeholders etc. Build Asia International Exhibition will showcase the latest construction equipment, improvised materials and other relevant technological innovations in the construction industry.
The event will serve as a technological platform providing opportunities for interaction between international exhibitors and domestic entrepreneurs. This, in turn, is expected to lead to several business collaborations, technology transfers and the appointment of able agents, distributors and collaborators.
 The major supporters of the event include the Ministry of Housing and Works, the Ministry of Communications, the Board of Investment Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Industries – Government of Sindh, City District Government Karachi, All Pakistan Contractors Association and Jamal’s Yellow Pages, to name a few.
For the 5th Build Asia Exhibition, 2009, the exhibitor profile has already been finalised and includes consulting engineers; civil engineers; heating ventilating air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) experts; environment and landscape consultants; architects; town-planners and landscape architects; construction management consultants; geo-tech and foundation engineering consultants, etc. The Karachi Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi Marriott Hotel and Hotel Mehran Karachi will provide accommodation facilities for those attending the event.
A number of countries will be participating from Europe and Asia, which will include Bahrain, China, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, the UAE, Korea, Ukraine, the US, the UK, Japan and Iran. The expected number of people visiting the expo will be around 80,000.
