Herman Miller’s Celle chair promises exceptional comfort through ergonomic design. Times Journal of Construction and Design takes a look
American furniture company Herman Miller has launched a sophisticated, ergonomically designed chair that is ideal for offices and conference spaces, but can be used in several other areas as well. Known as the Celle, the chair has been designed by leading furniture designer Jerome Caruso. The highlight of the Celle is the Cellular Suspension system created specifically for the chair, which creates a flexible framework that offers support with the same kind of buoyancy one experiences when in water. The back of the chair is made of 1,578 polymer cells—no two of which are alike. The cells and connecting loops are engineered to provide the perfect flex map to support the body. The continuous air flow through the cells keeps the skin temperature constant.

The Celle has a full range of adjustment controls, making it a comfortable chair for a variety of tasks. Moreover, it possesses a human-centered design; the patented Harmonic tilt and PostureFit complement the flexible support of the Cellular Suspension. The passive PostureFit feature supports the pelvis in a natural manner, so that spine stays properly aligned whether the user is leaning backwards or forward. The unique Harmonic tilt allows users to recline easily, with no varying resistance anywhere.
The chair can be personalised according to the user’s requirements—the height of the seat is adjustable, the chair has movable armrests and controllable tilt tension. Celle is available in rich and nature-based colour options that complement today’s trend towards darker, warmer interior design.
Each Celle chair is made from one-third recycled materials and is 99 per cent recyclable, and can be disassembled in less than five minutes. The product comes with a 12-year, 24- hour-a-day warranty, an added bonus for buyers. Herman Miller Celle Chairs are available in all major cities of India, at showrooms in Bangalore, Cochin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai.
Herman Miller works on the philosophy providing inventive designs, technologies and related services that improve customer experience. The company has a history of designing recognised and enduring products. |
