COLOUR, THE BEST MEDICINE

Times Journal of Construction and Design takes a look at the new Chromotherapy Decor Collection by Living in Style

Living in Style, a Mumbai-based vendor of merchandise for the home and office, has introduced an innovative bedroom series—Décor Collection— with chromotherapy attributes that use colour and light to balance a person’s physical, emotional, spiritual and mental energies. Exclusively imported from Italy, this collection has been manufactured by Camel Group.

The bedroom series includes beds, night tables, dressers with the option of jewellery drawers, seven-drawer wooden chests, writing desks, vanity dressers, indoor benches, wardrobes with wooden doors or mirrors, maxi-sliding-door wardrobes with wooden or glass doors, décor armchairs, mirrors, lamps and more. The prices of these products range between Rs 45,000 and Rs 4.5 lakh.

Beds
An array of optional headboards, footboards and bed surrounds may be combined to offer various types of beds. Headboards with faux leather, raised seams and buttons on birch plywood panels are available in ivory and brown ecoleather. Headboards and footboards have perforated laser inserts and are hand-finished.

Wardrobes
The wardrobes have either power doors in ayous wood or mirrors. Wardrobes with sliding doors have been decorated with tempered glass, their security panels, shelves and drawers made from honeycomb wood. The antiqued ayous wood frames are completed with a semi-gloss finish and have been given an open-pore treatment with beeswax.

Writing Desks
The writing desks have legs of beechwood, while the top wooden frame and box drawers are made of double ayous wood, with the panels veneered in walnut. The wooden armchairs available have an insert perforated design on the back with decorative motifs, and are available in ivory and brown ecoleather. The tops of the bedside tables are stacked inside wooden frames which hold decorated glass panels or have a walnut veneer. LED lights in red, blue and green are fixed on the side tables to produce an intermittent or gradual fade effect.

Afzal Chandiwala, Director, Living in Style, comments, “Colour therapy is a form of holistic healing that has been used for thousands of years to treat physical and emotional problems. When you are decorating your home or office with colour therapy techniques, you bring healing energies into your space and enhance or diminish certain qualities.” He further adds, “In this collection, LED lights are placed under the decorated glass, creating a relaxing effect to reduce daily tensions and stress caused by insomnia.” Amber Swarovski crystals create a striking kaleidoscope of reflections enriching the Room with light and colour.
