Woods Bagot, an Australian architecture firm, and Buro Happold, a British architectural engineering company, have jointly developed an architectural design programme that will help architects and engineers create zero-emission buildings. Commercially named Zero-E, the utility provides an effective aid for modelling building performance, thus, helping architects understand the impact of the features they incorporate in their building designs. Zero-E not only integrates and models building performance, but also tests systems used in the buildings against the stringent specifications of meeting zero emissions. Zero-E will also help structural designers and engineers to design green-tech systems such as photovoltaic systems, solar thermal panels, absorption chillers, biogas fuel cells and anaerobic waste digesters. The utility will also enable designers to perform simulation and 3D modelling of buildings to get optimal results, while maintaining zero emissions. |
