Denver-based architect Curtis Fentress is one of the three men to receive the American Institute of Architects’ 2010 Thomas Jefferson Award for public architecture. Fentress won AIA’s award in the category of private-sector architects of public facilities.

Fentress has designed the distinct main terminal of Denver International Airport, the Invesco Field at Mile High as well as the Colorado Convention Center expansion. Fentress founded his private firm, FentressArchitects in 1980, which also worked mainly on airport projects in the cities of Seoul, South Korea, and Doha, Qatar. Other significant Fentress projects include the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming; the Clark County Government Center in Las Vegas, as well as the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. Recently, his office also designed fire-safety upgrades at the Colorado State Capitol.
The other two AIA Thomas Jefferson Award winners for 2010 are Les Shepherd of the federal General Services Administration and Ken Greenberg of Toronto’s Greenberg Consultants. |
