Rajasthani Architecture to Woo Tourists at Gol Market

Mulling the development of Gol Market in Jaipur as a potential destination for local and foreign tourist entertainment and shopping, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has decided to build a market at Jawahar Circle with some inspiration from Jodhpuri architecture. It is said to be modelled in a mix of traditional and modern design styles, in line with Delhi’s Connaught Place.

Twelve developers have already submitted their proposals for the development of Gol Market, and five among these have been shortlisted for consideration. They have been asked to submit detailed project reports of their proposals. Design specifications for the market are expected to be decided by the developing company. However, JDA’s prerequisite of a resemblance to Rajasthani architecture stands. The developers will also have to lend thought to adequate provision for parking and make arrangements to aid smooth traffic flow. With a mix of modern and traditional design, natural beauty is not expected to be compromised.
