The Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) voted for Pugh+Scarpa Architects to receive the 2010 AIA Architecture Firm Award. The decision has considered the firm’s 18 years of experience, cultural and community involvement, attention to sustainable principles as well as nurturing of in-house talent. To be presented on June 12, 2010, the award’s previous recipients have included Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, Leers Weinzapfel, Moore Ruble Yudell, Murphy/Jahn, and KieranTimberlake. In tribute to the recipients, the names of the winners are chiseled into the Wall of Honor in the AIA headquarters lobby in Washington, DC.
Over the past 10 years, Pugh+Scarpa has won 13 national AIA awards and more than 40 state and local AIA awards. In 2008, the firm was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from Interior Design. In addition to its many laurels, in 2003, Pugh+Scarpa was also selected as a finalist for the World Habitat Award of the UN and the Building and Housing Social Foundation.
