KBR’s Subsidiary Wins Construction Contract from the University of North Carolina

KBR, a global construction, engineering and services firm, announced that its Building Group has won a $87-million contract for the construction of the new Dental Sciences Building for the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina in the US. Officials have confirmed that the new Dental Sciences Building will be a five-storey structure with a floor area of 216,000 square feet. The building will house dedicated departments for academics, pre-clinical operations and administrative activities. Two existing buildings in the area have already been demolished, while the other three buildings are being renovated.



The project has been initiated as part of the dental school’s multiphase modernisation plan. KBR has partnered with the University of North Carolina to accomplish the construction and renovation project. One of the major goals of the project is to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification. The estimated date for completion of the project is January 2012.
