ConocoPhillips, the third-largest integrated energy company in the US, and Origin Energy, an Australia-based green energy company, have awarded major infrastructure contracts for their Australia Pacific LNG project based out of Curtis Island, Australia. A commissioned liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at Laird Point, will produce around 7 million tonne of LNG annually from 2014. The contracts, awarded to McConnell Dowell, Consolidated Contractors Company and Bilfinger Berger Australia (BBA), will largely involve its design, engineering and construction operations. The construction and infrastructure major firms will conduct design studies for the upstream gas facilities in Curtis Island along with performing detailed engineering and construction tasks. Moreover, the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture between ConocoPhillips and Origin Energy has been shared on a 50:50 basis.
